Kathmandu, March 5 – Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has thanked all who voted him to get elected as the party parliamentary leader in the election held earlier today. Deuba garnered 44 votes, out of 63, to win the election against his competitor party former general secretary Prakashman Singh. In the voting took place at the NC parliamentary party office, Singha Durbar, Singh got 19 votes.
Party senior leader Ramchandra Poudel congratulated Deuba on his election as the parliamentary leader.
The NC has 63 members ( 23 first-past-the-post and 40 from the proportional representation) in the 275-member House of Representatives, the upper house of the federal parliament of Nepal.
