More Nepalis leave for Malaysia this year

Kathmandu, April 2 – The number of Nepali workers leaving for Malaysia in want of employment has surpassed the last year’s figure.

The figures provided by Ministry of Labour and Transport show a total of 105,001 Nepalis flew to Malaysia in the first nine months of current fiscal in connection to foreign employment. This figure was just 60,979 last year.

Managing Director at the Department of Foreign Employment under the Ministry, Indra Dev Pandey, the demand for Nrpali workers in the labor market in Malaysia and Qatar like countries has increased.

Qatar is in the second place in terms of flow of the Nepali migrant workers after Malaysia. The data shows that 81,364 Nepalis set out for Qatar alone this year.
