Ambassador Subedi elected Vice-chair of ICO

London, April 12 – Nepal’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and permanent representative to the International Coffee Organisation, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, has been elected the Vice-chairman of the Promotion and Market Development Committee of the Organisation.
The 121st Council Meeting of the Organisation that started in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico since Monday, elected Subedi to the post unanimously.
Brazil’s ambassador to Mexico, Maurico Carvalho Lyrio had proposed in the meeting that Subedi be elected to the post.
Representatives of Ivory Coast, Panama, Kenya, Indonesia, Honduras, El Salvador, Columbia and Ethiopia seconded the proposal.
Mitsuhrio Takayangi of Japan has been elected the Chairperson of the Committee.
Nepal acquired the full membership of the International Coffee Organisation on February 22, 2017.
The Government of Nepal appointed Dr. Subedi the permanent representative of Nepal to the International Coffee Organisation on June 29, 2017, Embassy of Nepal in London stated in a press release today.
