Govt’s 100 Days: Optimistic policy and programmes

Kathmandu, May 25 – The government led by KP Sharma Oli has taken positive initiatives in 100 days to realize its determination of prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali.

Formulation of necessary laws for the implementation of the constitution, decision to make effective the post-quake reconstruction, end of transport syndicate, bases of good governance were encouraging tasks of the government in 100 days, according to ministers.

The left government formed for the socialism oriented economy as per the election manifesto brought its policy and programmes last Monday. It also expressed commitment to ensure double digit economic growth in the coming five year. Similarly, the government announced to observe the coming fiscal year as the base year for prosperity.

The policy and programmes are set in a way these meet the long term goal of ‘prosperous Nepal, happy Nepalis’. Sugar mills and cement factories would be developed as the industries of quality exports to make the country self reliant. The private sectors would be regarded as the significant pillar of the national economy by the government.

Likewise, as per the policy and programmes of the government, ‘citizen right’ mobile apps would be brought into use, a set standard to ensure Nepal Standards in all sorts of services would be prepared and opportunity to a major portion of population engaged in agriculture sector would be provided in the non-agriculture within five years.

As per the government policy and programme, 1200 kms long Madan Bhandari Highway would be constructed with due priority linking inner Madhesh and Tarai from east to the far-west.

The school dropouts would be rejoined in the class and the initial prices of paddy, wheat and sugarcane would be fixed prior to crop plantation. Furthermore, system would be developed to open bank account to every Nepali citizen as announced in the policy and programmes.

With the unification of two communist parties for the formation of the Communist Party of Nepal has created a ray of hope for prosperity and stability among the people.

The government would announce the budget in the Federal Parliament on May 29 based on the same policy and programmes.

Likewise, the Oli government has drawn attention of two neighbouring countries China and India to get their supports based on Nepal’s needs and priorities by maintaining Nepal’s balanced relations with the neighbouring countries based on national sovereignty.

Based on the same commitment, PM Oli made state visit to India on 6 -8 April and added new dimensions on Nepal-India relations.

Likewise, Indian PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Nepal from 11 -12 May helped further strengthen Nepal-India relations.

The agreements between Nepal and India on railways, modernization of agriculture and development of water ways were signed, while integrated security check post has commenced after the bilateral visits.

The joint statement issued on the occasion of Indian PM Modi’s visit has made public a timeline of coming Asoj 3 to settle the bilateral problems and remaining contentious issues.

The laying of foundation stone for the construction of Arun iii Project during Modi’s Nepal visit has shown government’s willpower to make economy dynamic.

PM Oli is under preparation to embark on his visit to another neighbouring country China and will lay emphasis on the implementation of the transport and transit related agreements signed earlier.

In the meantime, the government has imparted a message to break syndicate systems prevailing in other sectors by ending the deep rooted monopoly in transport sector. The Home Ministry’s initiative to end syndicate system in transport sector and investigate into the gold smuggling has received accolade from general public.

Among other government-led initiatives during the period include adoption of austerity work procedure, scrapping of illegal fee charged to workers abound to Malaysia and withdrawal of Kathmandu-based contact offices of the universities having central offices outside Kathmandu.
