NC says Joshi’s rejection, intervention of independent judiciary

Kathmandu, Aug 7 – The central working committee meeting of the main opposition Nepali Congress today has concluded that the rejection of the then acting chief justice Dipak Raj Joshi’s recommendation to the chief justice at the Supreme Court by Parliamentary Hearing Committee was an intervention of independent judiciary.

Joshi was rejected by two-thirds majority of the PHC on August 3.

The meeting held at the party’s central office Sanepa has further decided to be more active to safeguard basic principles of democracy, constitutional supremacy and independent judiciary.

The meeting also extended condolence on the demise of NC Syangja district President Kamal Prasad Pangeni. Pangeni had died on August 5 following a cardiac arrest.
