Kathmandu, Dec 13 – Final results of the vote count of the recent elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies towards the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system have been announced in all constituencies. The twin elections held in two phases–November 26 and December 7– have elected 165 members to the House of Representatives and 330 to the State Assemblies through the FPTP system, according to the Election Commission.
As per the information provided by the Information System Management Section at the EC, the CPN (UML) has won 80 seats in the federal parliament, CPN (Maoist Center) 36 seats and the Nepali Congress has secured 23 seats in total.
Similarly, the Rastriya Janata Party, Nepal has emerged as the fourth party in the federal parliament towards the FPTP system by winning 11 seats and the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal has won the elections in 10 constituencies.
According to EC Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal, Naya Shakti Party Nepal, Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Rastriya Prajatantra Party has won one seat each. One independent candidate has become victorious in the election.
Similarly, five women candidates have been elected in the House of Representatives election.
Likewise, towards the State Assemblies elections, 168 seats have been won by the CPN (UML) and 73 by the CPN (Maoist Center).
The NC has become victorious in 41 seats, the FSF in 24 and the RJPN in 16.
Three independent candidates, two of Naya Shakti Party Nepal, two of Rastriya Janamorcha and one of NWPP have won the elections in the State Assemblies while the total number of women candidates winning the State Assemblies election is 17.
According to the EC, to date the UML has obtained 1,989,500 votes, NC 1904,208, CPN (MC) 768,378 and the FSF has obtained 252,698 votes towards the Proportional Representation (PR) system.
Similarly, the RJPN has secured 189,204 votes, RPP 132,500, Bibeksheel Sajha 123,062, Naya Shakti Nepal 56,584, RPP ( Democratic) 44, 175, Rastriya Janamorcha 35,097 and other parties have got 194,453 in collective.
