Kathmandu, May 30 – Director-General of European Commission (EC)’s International Cooperation and Development, Jean Chrostophe and New Zealand’s Ambassador to Nepal Joanna Kempkers have hailed the post-earthquake reconstruction works underway in Nepal.
They enquired about the status of ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction works while calling on Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Yubaraj Bhusal today.
In separate meetings held at the NRA office, EU Director General Jean and Ambassador Kempkers mainly enquired about the reconstruction of private houses and school buildings devastated by 2015 Gorkha Earthquake.
On the occasion, CEO Bhusal shared that the private house building construction is being carried out in a full swing and the rebuild of devastated school buildings is also taking momentum in an enthusiastic manner.
He further informed that thee NRA has set a target to complete the reconstruction of private houses within the coming fiscal year and almost all the reconstruction related tasks entrusted to the NRA would be completed in the given time.
The EC Director General and Ambassador had appreciated the NRA for its remarkable achievements on reconstruction despite the prevalence of transitional time and limitation of resources and means.
NRA CEO also extended thanks to European Union and New Zealand for their cooperation in Nepal’s efforts for post-earthquake reconstruction and expected continuous support in future.
