Kathmandu, Sept 4 – Nepal lost its first match in the SAFF Championship football that began in Dhaka of Bangalesh today.
Nepal lost the match after failing to hold on the dying minute of the match, with Pakistan scoring the decider in injury time. Hence, Pakistan stole a win in the final minute, even as the match was tied 1-1 in the regulation 90 minutes.
Nepal was one down at half time, after conceding a penalty in the 37th minute of the match. Mohammad Riza converted for Pakistan to give a lead to his team.
Nepali youth striker Bimal Ghartimagar levelled the score in the 82nd minute of the match. But Pakistani striker Mohammad Ali scored a beautiful header to win three valuable points for his team.
Nepal now faces Bhutan on Thursday and host Bangaldesh on Saturday. Nepal is yet to win a title as the SAFF championship enters its 12th edition.
