Govt to buy rail engine; to set up office to operate ship

Kathmandu, Jan 17 – The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on January 13 agreed in principle to give the Ministry of Physical Planning and Transport Management the authority to buy a rail engine.
The government has initiated the process to buy the rail engine for the operation of railway service from Kurtha of Janakpur to Jayanagar, India. The engine would be bought from India for the 35 km long railway.
Information to this was shared by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota at the regular press briefing in the capital city on Thursday.
Similarly, the quota of the employees needed for running of office for the operation of the ship transport has been approved. The office with 16 employees will be led by an Undersecretary of engineering, while a person be assigned as a registrar.
The payment of the Minister’s salary and other incentives would be arranged through the respective ministries. Earlier, the ministers used to take the salary and incentives from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, said the Minister Banskota.
Similarly, the Minister, who is also the Spokesperson of the government, informed the media that the Cabinet approved the establishment and operation work procedure of the Prime Minister National Talent Prize Fund 2075. The fund will be some 200 thousand US dollars. The fund will be utilized to award the persons excelling in innovation, scientific research, and those contributing significantly to the national life.

Investment summit  
The government has made preparations to organize investment summit in the country. Government spokesperson Banskota shared that government was making preparations for the summit to be organized on March 29 and 30. The summit will be an appropriate forum to invite foreign investment to materialize the government’s campaign of Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali, Banskota added.

Extraction of mineral and gas

Similarly, the government has given permission to Chinese company to explore gas and minerals in Palpa and Dailekh districts. The Cabinet has appointed Shishir Kumar Dhungana as the chairman of Employees Provident Fund. The meeting has also allocated five million rupees for the construction of a cold storage at Birendra Nagar Municipality.
The Cabinet meeting has given permission to submit the bill on Human Resources Capacity Development Academy.
